World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play - Round of 16 Betting tips

The group stage from the 2018 Dell Technologies Match Play Championship is in the history and now it's time for the real fun - the knockout rounds. Some of the favorites had troubles and failed to escape from their group. The world number one Dustin Johnson finished last in his group after he lost all 3 matches in group 1. Rory McIlroy, John Ram, Hideki Matsuyama, Jason Day, Tommy Fleetwood, Paul Casey and Phil Mickelson also failed to advance to the next round.
Round of 16 and Round of 8 will be played today and here are my betting tips for the incoming matches.

1. Kiradech Aphibarnrat vs Charles Howell III
Winner: Kiradech Aphibarnrat, odds: 1.80

Aphibarnrat won all 3 matches in his group and showed some good form so far in Austin. The young Thai player enjoys the match play format and he has pretty good match play record: 10-5-2 compared to Charles Howell III 9-10-0.  Kiradech has already tasted the success of a match play tournament by winning the 2015 Paul Lawrie Match Play Championship.



2. Alex Noren vs Patrick Reed
Winner: Alex Noren, odds: 2.00

The Swede sunk this put on the 18th green to win his match against Tony Fianu and occupy the top stop in group 13.

Noren has played very solid this season on the PGA tour and obviously he feels good on the big stage. Last year he lost on the 1/4 finals to the future champion Dustin Johnson. Patrick Reed had tough test in his group, but he won 2&1 against his good friend and Ryder Cup teammate Jordan Spieth to advance to the knockout stage. Reed is the favorite and the pressure will be on him, while Noren will be motivated to improve from his last year performance and get some more Ryder Cup points.

3. Louis Oosthuizen vs Ian Poulter
Winner: Louis Oosthuizen, odds: 1.90

For me this is the most interesting match from the Round of 16 matches. This match may go both ways, but I bet on the South African, who had to play extra holes vs Jason Dufner to determine the winner in group 8. Poulter will be under pressure as he needs a place among the top 8 in the tournament in order to qualify for the starting in 2 weeks Masters tournament.
