Captain Bjørn should be the happiest man in golf this Monday. This year Open de France held at the Ryder Cup course was great success, the course was in superb condition, it provided great test for the players, the crowd was awesome and two of the European golf stars - Alex Noren and Francesco Molinari recorded two very impressive wins.

Noren won his second Rolex Series title and his 10^th European Tour title after posting a final round of 67 and 7 under total for the tournament. This is Noren’s first win for the season, but thanks to his steady performance on the European and the PGA

Italian Open Day 1 Betting tips

This week the European Tour moves to Italy for the 75th edition of  the Italian Open and here are my betting tips.

1. Round 1 18 holes Match-Ups

Ross Fisher vs Lucas Bjerregaard
Winner: Ross Fisher
Odds: 1.80

Both players are in very good form and both are coming after a top 10 finish in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. The only reason I bet on Fisher is that I watched him on the Pro-Am today and he played very solid. Holed some monster putts and made a few very impressive approach shots. He loves to play in Italy and the course seems to suit his game.


2. Round 1 18 holes Match-Ups

Tyrrell Hatton vs Andy Sullivan
Winner: Tyrell Hatton
Odds: 1.90

If you look at the numbers Sullivan is the favorite. Hatton missed the cut in his last 2 tournaments and his last top 10 was in Mexico during the WGC. Gardagolf is a course which demands driving accuracy and this might be a problem for Andy Sullivan who had some troubles from the tee during today's Pro-Am. Moreover Hatton is the defending champion and I am pretty sure he will do anything to defend his title.

3. Round 1 18 holes Match-Ups
Matteo Manassero vs Benjamin Hebert
Winner: Matteo Manassero
Odds: 1.90

This is probably the easiest pick for tomorrow. Gardagolf is Manassero's home course. He knows every single angle and lie on this course which gives him huge advantage and makes him the favorite. 

World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play - Round of 16 Betting tips

The group stage from the 2018 Dell Technologies Match Play Championship is in the history and now it's time for the real fun - the knockout rounds. Some of the favorites had troubles and failed to escape from their group. The world number one Dustin Johnson finished last in his group after he lost all 3 matches in group 1. Rory McIlroy, John Ram, Hideki Matsuyama, Jason Day, Tommy Fleetwood, Paul Casey and Phil Mickelson also failed to advance to the next round.
Round of 16 and Round of 8 will be played today and here are my betting tips for the incoming matches.

1. Kiradech Aphibarnrat vs Charles Howell III
Winner: Kiradech Aphibarnrat, odds: 1.80

Aphibarnrat won all 3 matches in his group and showed some good form so far in Austin. The young Thai player enjoys the match play format and he has pretty good match play record: 10-5-2 compared to Charles Howell III 9-10-0.  Kiradech has already tasted the success of a match play tournament by winning the 2015 Paul Lawrie Match Play Championship.

As expected Rory is number 1 again, but the week belongs to Peter Senior

Rory McIlroy won the final tournament from the 2015 European tour calendar and it's not a surprise that he became European golfer number 1. McIlroy, who is the best European golfer in the last few seasons won the season ending DP World Tour Championship Dubai with score of 21 under par, 1 shot ahead of Andy Sullivan.

Прогнози за Made in Denmark

Тази седмица Европйеският голф тур гостува на Дания за второто издание на турнира Made in Denmark. Ето и кои ще са основните претенденти за титлата според мен:

Robert Karlsson - шведът започва да намира формата, която го изведе до първото място в класацията по приходи от Европейския тур през 2008 г. Karlsson не игра в PGA championship тази седмица и това е първият му турнир след второто място на Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play.

Marc Warren - шотландецът ще защитава титлата от миналата година и съдейки по формата, която показва през последните седмици е много вероятно да успее да я защити успешно. В последните си 5 старта Warren има две 4-ти места, едното от които е на престижния Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

Thomas Bjorn - безспорно това е любимецът на публиката. Най-добрият датчанин за всички времена е измъчван от контузии през последните месеци и не блести с нищо особено през този сезон, но със сигурност няма да се даде без борба и ще се опита да подобри 4-то си място в турнира от миналата година

What a day for Day

Австралиецът Jason Day спечели заключителния за годината мейджър турнир в света на голфа. Двадесет и седем годишният Day триумфира с общ резултат от 20 удара под пара и остави на 3 удара зад себе си хегемона през тази година в професионалния голф Jordan Spieth. Трети, на ниво от 15 удара под пара остана южноафриканецът Branden Grace, а четвъртото място зае англичанинът Justin Rose.Място в топ 10 намериха още Anirban Lahiri от Индия, George Coetzee от Южна Африка и американците Brooks Koepka, Matt Kuchar, Dustin Johnson, Robert Streb & Tony Finau.

The tough choice for the European Ryder Cup Captain

Earlier this week it was announced that on Wednesday, 18th Paul McGinley & Co will choose the next Ryder Cup captain, who will lead the team in 2016 in Hazeltine. Darren Clarke and Miguel Ángel Jiménez are the 2 favourites about the position and most likely the one, who loses this battle will not have another chance to be honoured as Europe Ryder Cup captain.
Jiménez is 51 now and still plays regularly on the European tour, but nobody knows how long this will continue. In 2018 he's going to be 53 and we all know how important is it for  a captain to play every week on Tour to keep a close eye on the players and their performance.

Lee Westwood has the solo 3rd place at 14 under after birdies on the closing 2 holes. A group of four players, including the defending champion Stephen Gallacher sits at 13 under. 8 players are at 12 under, among them are Alex Noren, former US Champion Graeme Mcdowell and the 18 years old Italian Renato Paratore. World number 2 Henrik Stenson is at 10 under, after a round of 70.
